VISION
The Quilting Ministry of Saint John Baptist Church was established to offer an additional opportunity for fellowship and giving. This ministry is rooted in the historical role of the church as a center of life in the African American community. Its dual purposes are to promote fellowship and purposeful work within the congregation and to provide practical outreach to the community.
MISSION
As a vehicle for Christian service, the Quilting Ministry strives to enhance the spirit and practice of giving and to support opportunities for intergenerational exchanges. The ministry responds to the Christian mandates for:
· Service-- “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous, and willing to share”. (I Timothy 6:8)
· Seeking wisdom-- “Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge” (Proverbs 23:12)
· Teaching-- “She speaks wisdom; and, faithful instruction is on her tongue”. (Proverbs 31:26)
The Quilting Ministry of Saint John Baptist Church fosters the development of new skills, the constructive use of time, and the practice of Christian fellowship within and beyond church walls. Gifted quilts carry a message of spiritual encouragement.
